Sniper rifle speedup

Having done a lot of ground lately,
I find that the sniper rifles special attack is significantly to slow compared to other weapons special/secondary attack. They are all nearly instant while the sniper takes several seconds.
In fact it takes so long that enemies that are running up to you are pretty much up in your face during the time the attack preps. Or the other way, just run up to the enemy and pulsewave his face off is quicker then shooting him with the sniper.

So i would like to see the secondary attack prep time be reduced to get it more in line of the requirements in ground combat.

It is the short side of being able to shot at pretty much anything outside their firing range...

Not to mention a sniper attack on an expose is pretty much the most powerful player attack there is.

Besides, the TOS Phaser Rifle's Secondary Attack is the same as a sniper rifle (though weaker) and it's far faster in activation.

If you're close enough that they can run up to you in that period of time, then you're using the sniper rifle wrong. You're supposed to use a sniper rifle for... sniping... It's not supposed to be a close range weapon. You use it to take out as many of the enemies as you can at extreme range, and then when they get close enough, switch to a higher DPS, closer range weapon.

The High Density Beam Rifle's "sniper" shot is just as slow.

You're supposed to send your BOff's in to fight, while you stay back to 'Snipe'...

Unfortunately, as soon as you snipe the first enemy, they all tend to run toward you, not your BOff's.

There is no doubt that the Ground combat BAD mechanics shows in spades, its gawdawful. Personally they should remove Ground combat entirely from this game - its horrible.

you know there is something wrong when people just stand there face to face and beam each other to death, they need to revamp Ground missions plus Ground skills and motion mechanics. It would be nice if they have something like a Call of Duty, Planetside, Battlefield style of Ground gameplay, where a cover system is truly a cover system, lol.

but it is wishful thinking, and what we have, is unfortunately; What we have. CRYPTIC will not spend the time and money to revamp the Ground combat from the ground up.

Question:
Is the Phaser quicker than a Revolver?

Quick draw eh? Hmm, Maybe Doc Holiday has something to say about that.

You've never fired a sniper, have you?

i agree that the sniper should fire earlier.

when i play Elite STFs in 5 mans... (lol who plays with BOffs anymore?) the Borg tend to die faster than i can shoot my sniper, in particular at the EXPOSED enemies,
because someone else already targets that enemy, or he would not be exposed at all. When my sniper is finally ready to fire, the enemy is either already dead OR has so few pixels of health left that i could have just shot the default bolt.

either way, it fires the secondary attack to Slow to be efficient.

Ground Combat has gotten a lot faster with the Shooter Mode update (enemies have less health and hit a lot harder), but the weapons balance seems to have stayed in the old slow mode.

Personally i'm waiting for Shooter Mode 2.0
Cryptic is nothing else but updating old "Systems"... at some point they will come around to shooter mode again and maybe make it actually playable.

a real one? lol no!
but AFAIK when you press the trigger the bullet comes out instantly, not 5 seconds later.

imho the cooldown could be a bit longer if the attack would go faster and there you have your balance.

I doubt any of us have ever hired one for that matter.
