oneshots with 1000 day ship realy?

shields drain way quick is it me or dual pharsers the cause? Mav had said something about it when he got it they drain on 1 or 2 hits

The Chimera has a Shield Modifier of 0.9 so, if you're used to cruisers(1.0 for most, 1.1 for Oddy), it does have less shields. Very recommended you keep two Tac Teams at the ready.

2 tt1 and some skill points on power insulator for some improvements, i guess

also, what shields do u use?

I use Tetryon beam arrays and a Borg shield with the console, defector and engines.

On my T5 cruiser I never had a issues with the shields draining. But on my 1000 Day ship ( KDF ), she seems to lose power and the NCP's weapons seem to cut through more often.

So I got seriously curious and ran a few tests.
I used the same mission for this on both my cruiser and destroyer.
The NCP's where Breen ships.

My Cruiser held her shields. Even when firing 6 arrays. Once did I turn a damaged shield away.

My Destroyer lost power to the shields. Even with the shield boost. I removed the Tac boost console in favor of a extra Tetryon power booster. When I had the Tac console on, she lost even more shields, she became a glass canon.
That's why I don't use it. I get extra boost from the power booster then I got with the Tac console.
Also I had to keep moving at high speeds to protect shields, sometime even retreating.

I went into A STF with both ships.
Cruiser beat the hell out of the Borg, even holding up to High Yield Plasma Bolts. Hull damage about down to 90% - 88%

Destroyer struggled and was defeated a number of times. High Yield Plasma Bolts took my hull down from 100% to 40-30% in one shot. Then another normal Plasma Torpedo, took her out.

I even used a Purple MK-XI shield. Again shields were weak and unable to really hold up.

Also, I noticed lag of about 2-4 seconds when using the Battle Cloak, being attacked or not. Yet she uncloaked quite rapidly when a bridge officer spoke. =/

Just my my opinion, but what I see is that they where once again rushed and untested.

Or functioning as designed to get someone to grind the new STF's for the MK-XII shields. But I reject that idea as the MK-XII shields would suffer as well as did the Borg and MK-XI

The Destroyer is a challenge to fly, great speed, and weapon power, but shields just can't handle anything really.

Anyone can run these tests, and come out with different results. But must say that the shields are drained somehow. I've been hearing it around the game.
A bug or working as intend. Only Cryptic knows. If they say it's neither, then I'm calling it.
Also the FED 1000 Day Ship sounds like a re-skinned KDF Destroyer. Most likely is.

As for me...........I'm dumping the Destroyer for my T5 Cruiser.
The Destroyer, seriously junk in my opinion, but could be better if designed better. Some like it, I hate it. And I flew it for a fair while.
If it was a car, I'd send it to a land fill instead of the scrap yard.

Like I said, just my opinion.

And I'm a over 700 Day LTS. So I've seen and tried all builds.

.........seriously? Have you guys never flown an escort before? Escorts are not cruisers, they cannot take the same punch to the groin as cruisers, they cannot tank nearly as well. If you are taking fire in an escort, your job is to hit evasive and gtfo of dodge and regenerate so you don't get popped.

The destroyer is bar none one of the most superior escorts in the game. She outstrips the defiant simply because of her BO layout and her hull. Don't try tanking crap with an escort and you won't get blown apart.

If the destroy was such weaksauce, then ever escort out there would be even weaker and no one would fly them...oh wait.

A few things that can help your problem here.

Borg engine, borg deflector, Maco MK XII shield, 2 shield generators, Decent skill points in shield systems and shield emitters, two tactical teams...and knowing when to remove yourself from a fire fight.

The Borg shield really isn't anything special, even as part of a/the set.

And IF the Destroyer's lotus ability is anything like the Spinal Lance on the Galaxy-X you'd be better fitting disruptors and distruptor induction coils, which would benefit the lotus ability.

I'm gonna tentatively agree with the OP here - tentatively because I've got a Sci flying the vet ship and my (more familiar) alts are Tac and Eng in Cruisers.

The Tac flies an Excel and is quite frankly, indestructible in Elite STFs - he rarely if ever dips below 60% hull even when taking a full hit from the Borg 'one-hits' - the only time I ever run into trouble is if I've got a Neg and the Cube and a Raptor aggroed (and typically even that scenario is survivable).

The Eng flies a K't'inga Retrofit and in theory should be the toughest of my three characters - the truth is he's somewhat more squishy that the Tac/Excel - something I've largely put down to the lack of something like the MACO shield KDF-side. Even so, if he's flying his K't'inga (or even his B'rel) he can take a huge hit and provided I'm quick enough on dealing with it, live to fight on.

My Sci on the other hand flies a Kar'fi and the 1000-day ship - the vet ship has 2 x Neutronium Alloys + 2 x Field Generators and my Sci's specced into hull and shields - even so this ship feels likes it's made out of balsa - the Kar'fi on the other hand has no alloys (I favor turn rate there) and seems to hold it together a lot longer than the Peghqu'

And after a great deal of respeccing and testing, I'm at a loss as to why that is.

The KDF Vet ship is a very good ship. But, it does have crappy shield mods espcially when in Tactical Mode. Just plan your build w/that in mind and you'll do fine. Also, Keep in mind w/the Tactical setting you get +30 ACC so you can use weapons w/crit procs and don't need +2-3 ACC anymore.

The shield mod difference between the Peghqu' (.833) and the Kar'fi(1.2) is pretty large if you're tactical mode with the Peghqu' even with 2x gens. If you're using the Phase Shift the Kar'fi will gain a further lead in tankiness. Plus, you're likely draw a bit more aggro in tactical mode with the Peghqu', extra crits from accuracy bleed over will attract more attention, and you have no fighters providing a distraction.

Edit 2: "Shield Modifier: 0.833" for Peg... oww. that'd be why it's so fragile, I guess it's a balance trade-off for the battle-cloak.
