[Video] First thoughts on the Vesta

TL, DW summary:

The good: Easily the most powerful science vessel, even before taking the consoles into account.
- Good balance of stats relative to the Fleet Science classes
- Hangar, Universal bridge officers and choice of 10th console slot add flexibility with no downside
- Consoles range from the 'very handy' to the 'this might be a touch OP'.
- Aux cannon give it a serious bite for a science vessel and remove the compromise between weapon and aux power, further adding to the flexibility of the design.

The bad: The price! $50 is pretty close to a full AAA title and $25 is the kind of money where I think before buying. Would not have bought this, powerful as it is, if I hadn't been planning on doing the video.

- Similarly, it would be interesting to see how much money the Steamrunner made when it was $10 as opposed to $25.

The ugly: Not entirely sold on the looks, but that's personal taste and extremely borderline. After 5 days of looking I can't pin down why I'm not sold on it (as opposed to the Chimera, where my instant response was 'that's ugly and here's why'.

Good review. I'm a fan of the design personally, but I can't justify that price for a ship. That same 50 bucks will fuel my car for a week.

A nicely done review, fair and balanced.

BTW I'm stealing some of your build for my STF Vesta. :P

I would change 1 thing in you statement about the vesta is is not the most powerful sci vessel out there it is the most powerful hybrid vessel out there without argument. The wells fills a sci role much better the orb weaver fills the sci role better the fleet nebula fills the sci role better. The vesta is a good ship I have the 3 pack and I like it a lot but its not quite a sci ship it is like the title states a multi mission ship.

After the Oddy 3 pack, I decided to just buy the Tac Vesta Class since that's what I ended up using only from the Oddy anyways.

I also added the Tachykinetic Console with the Borg Console & Theta Radiation Console. Works pretty well on Elite STFs for my Joined Trill Engineer.

But I am curious when I reach the IV tier Romulan & Omega reputation tiers to see how the Vesta, and other ships, will tank/damage.

Hi yuzral

Im a fan of your youtube video's
I will be copying your skill plan asap.
Please can you tell me what duty officers you use please. e.g blue Flight deck doffs.
also what do you feel to be the best race of bridge officer for this ship human for leadership ?

thank you
I look forward to seeing your next video.

Noo, don't copy me just because you saw it on my videos, I'm not a top flight player by any means! You'll be better off looking at the threads in the Academy and rummaging around some of the advanced guides in there.

DOffs were simply what I had handy, I didn't even look at those when I was setting the ship up and boff races...can't honestly say it's ever made a massive difference to me, which probably just illustrates how many advanced tricks and tweaks I'm missing.

Don't sell your self short, you have a good idea for a build there. I swapped the wide angle for some Transphasic mines and was getting 2nd place in SB24 and Gorn Minefield without much effort meaning I was probably out DPSing the cruisers and some of the escorts running around there. ;)
