Escort build questions
 
Im going to run the tier 4 fleet escort soon and was wondering about beam banks. Why do players put beam banks in there build?

Should I go?

3 phaser dual heavy cannons
1 phaser quad cannons
3 turrets
5 phaser relays
3 fields generators
2 neutronium alloy

or

3 phaser dual heavy cannons
1 phaser quad cannons
3 phaser turrets
4 phaser relays
3 field generators
1 cloak device
1 EPS flow reg

or some beam banks or what?

people go with torpedo or beam banks because you have 3 ensign boff powers to fill and its the only way to fill them with something useful. if you go with torpedo it does not use weapon power when firing so all your other weapons do a bit more damage you also get more burst damage I have had my chroniton dual beams hit for 40k with beam overload and my temporal disruption device hit for almost 60k with high yield.

First off this is from a PvE perspective

Eng Consoles: A Monotonium and Neutronium are borderline required to avoid instant explosion when a torp spread hits.
Sci Consoles: Field Generators are highly over-rated. Because of stacking issues with skills you really only get 10%ish higher cap, no regen, no improved heals, nothing. More than 1 is very wasteful and unnecessary instead I recommend borg console and zero point romulan rep console or even new embassy plasma proc console with reduced threat generation and shield emitter skill.

Since when are there issues with stacking field generators? I must have missed that one..

the scaling is linear, but the bonus they add is pretty disappointing. mean the actual bonus is not even close to the percentage showed on the tooltip (just as with any DMG console).

That is because all consoles that add a percentage are adding that percentage of BASE value. 15% shield capacity on a covariant shield will be more than a regenerative shield but will not be 15% more that what you currently have.

by the way i use this config on my escort

1 phaser quad cannon
2 phaser DHC
1 torp (omega torp or quantum)
2 turret
1 cutting beam

and the consoles
4x phaser
1x for the actual type of torp

2x neutronium (or 1x monotanium and 1x electroceramic for STF, it's cheaper to get in very rare xii than 2x of neutroniums in the same quality)
1x EPS

1x field generator
1x assimilated module
