Engineering Team does not fully remove Viral Matrix

Just fought a Romulan D'Deridex that Viral Matrixed me. I applied Engineering Team and at first it clears, but then Viral Matrix returns.

What happened to it fully removing the effect?

(PS this was in Acamar, so there was only 1 DD)

i'm sorry but thats what viral matrix does, and eng team will only repair a dmg subsystem while it is running. it does not however clear the viral matrix, as i understand it.

the wiki, just says it counters viral matrix, not clears it. But since VM runs only a maximum of 9 seconds, you should be free of subsystem failures all the way through. If you activated ET too early then maybe VM disabled one of your subsystems when the ET buff wasnt running anymore.

only possible explanation i can think of, but then again, this game is not exactly bug free.

This definitely seems broken because I can get hit by VM, use Engineering Team then a few seconds (5 presumably) I'll get reinfected. All other science abilities off the top of my head can be cleared one way or another so VM should be no different.

The Red Matter Capacitor seems to remove the debuff completely. Engineering Team needs to be brought back into line.

Science team

Engineering team fixes any subsystems currently down. But it will not stop them from going back down, or any new ones from getting knocked offline. In order to remove a SCIENCE debuff... one needs... wait for it... SCIENCE team.

I have also found EPtX to be effective, since it brings whatever is down back online, and also buffs it for a short period of time. Especially shields and weapons.

You're missing a major point: Cryptic names are advertising Engineering Team as a means to fully deal with VM (began with the introduction of the VM propogation DOFFs, but it's also popped up with the Rommie content in S7).

Where does it say this? ET is nothing more than a heal and a subsystem fix. It never has been anything but that, my entire time playing. However, I have a the minor issue of I fly an Odyssey, so most NPC ships don't bother me, even on elite. But in my escort, I use EPtX to bring shields and weapons back online, and ET to clear them up if I don't have the EPtX off cd. It will clear one of the debuffs, but nothing more. And sometimes viral matrix will target the same subsystem more than once, which is why it can go offline again.

But seriously, just use ST. It's a quick easy method of getting the VM off your ship. Then use EM to get behind the D'deridex to keep it from doing it again, and then you vaporize the damn thing.

Besides, if you can't get ST, there is a very easy counter to VM. Kill the D'deridex without ever getting in it's forward arc. All of a sudden, VM is nowhere to be found... O.o

Hm... Ok then. Thank you for putting facts in place. Oddly enough shortly after posting I decided to test your little conundrum, and I went into Acamar, annoyed the D'deridex, got it to VM me, and hit ET. Systems came back online, and I went on with my life. You might have just had a minor bug. See if it continues.
