how do you tell the differnce?
I'm talking about what puzzles me in exchange. It is very hard for me to tell the difference when looking for uncommon and above things if it is for federation or for klingon. I assume there must be an easy way.

The only things that are one or the other tend to be ships boffs and doffs
the red box background on doffs is klingons the blue is federation for Boffs the feds have the fed chevron the klingons an IKF symbol but basically use phaser for fed and disruptor for klingon |
Think the OP is talking about DOFFs on the Exchange, especially ones uncommon quality or higher. In this case a Green, Blue or Purple border cancels out the "traditional" Red or Blue border that usually signifies faction.
Only two ways to make it quick when looking on the Exchange: know and recognize a DOFF's alliance based on race, or right click on the DOFF and try to see what the [often obscured] logo/seal is behind the DOFF's portrait. If it's not immediatly apparent just looking at the seal (big ol' DOFF heads can make it hard), then look for the motto/writing around the seal: FEDs will have english written on the outer rim, while KDF will have something written in, more or less, hash marks. |
There is a drop down for item quality in the search options of the exchange so you can look for the quality you want.

he is talking for example:
Blue Duty officer - Projectile weapon officer -> Faction FED -> Faction Klingon he is talking about, that on some pictures its very hard to see, to which section the doff belongs. usually the best way for me is to look for the sharp pointy thingy of the klingon empire symbol above the portrait. if its not there, its FED doff. |
