'Best' BOff Layout

I suppose it's a matter of opinion really but what do people think is the 'best' BOff layout?

My personal opinion leans toward the 4/3/3/2 layout seen on carriers, albeit I'm not sure if the lieutenant slot should be the same type as the cmdr or one of the ltc slots.

Another contender could be 4/3+1/3+1 (if it exists), the closest thing to a 4/4/4 we will probably ever see.

Given my preferences I suppose that means that the fleet Ning'tao has the best layout in the game (4/3/3/2 all universal).

But the point of this thread is to ask what (in your opinion) is the best BOff layout?

I like the 4 3 2 2 1 kinda like the wells or the Breen set up is nice also

I like the following setups:

Tac: 2, 3
Engi: 4
Sci: 2, 1

Tac: 4, 3
Engi: 2
Sci: 2, 1

Tac: 2, 1
Engi: 2
Sci: 4, 3

Tac: 4, 2
Engi: 2, 1
Sci: 3

Now the next challenge: guess which ships those came from XD.

Heretic: My guess for the first one is an Oddy of some sort

2. could be one of quite a few escorts (Prometheus?)

3. Generic Sci (Reconnaissance?)

4. Not a clue.

Numerically:

4/3/3/2
4/3/3/1/1
4/3/2/2/1 (of course ensign universal variants moves this closer vs all fixed, still not the Ning'tao though)

based on Ltc and Lt slots (the exceedingly unlikely 4/4/3/1 and 4/4/4 would be better due to cmdr slots but since I doubt they'll release a ship with 2 cmdr slots or move up to 13 total...)

I'd like to know if people would choose:

4/4/2 (only 10 total but 2 cmdr) or similarly 4/4/1/1

if not then:
4/4/3 or 4/4/2/1 (11 total, not unheard of though 2 cmdr level slots would be new)

And whether they think the devs will ever release such combinations

My current personal favorite is 4 Tac, 3 Eng, 2 Eng, 2 Sci, 1 Sci, which to my knowledge only fits on the Chimera. I'm always experimenting with new setups tho.

I do admit, if I could find a 4/3/3/2 or 4/3/3/1/1 setup with the right distribution of career types, I'd probably prefer it to 4/3/2/2/1, but I doubt I'll ever see the distribution I want on a ship type that I like. Those seem to always be full carriers, which are pretty much automatically always going to be huge science vessel-types (and have the careers match that general purpose) rather than something a little more combat oriented.

1) Correct.

2) Also correct, but in this case, it is the Fleet Patrol Escort.

3) Also correct. Mirror Universe Reconnaissance Science Vessel (identical BOff layout to the standard RSV)

4) Breen Chel'Gret Warship. :P

Two others that are quite good:
3/2+2+4/1 and 4/1+3+3/1

I like that 4/1+3+3+1. What ships use that?

Agreed.

4/3/3/2 all universal is easily the best BOFF layout in the entire game.

It's held in check by the fact that the Fleet Ning'tao has shuttle hull & shields.

The Tholian Recluse.

It's actually Tac 1/Eng 3/Sci 3+Sci 1/Univ 4... I wrote it as Tac 4+1 cause that's how I use it.
