Advice on spending Zen

My last "returning player" kind of question.

Got the lifetime sub back with it was originally offered. Been away for over 2 years.

My current plans are to just play one captain through from start to finish, so I have no problem with character only bound items.

I also plan on using the Chimera, so I do not plan on buying any ships from the store.

I am seeking advice on how best to spend the 7000 (promotional) Zen I have, keeping in mind the goal for the best, single captain play-through experience.

I know it is not that big of a deal, but I would like to spend it wisely.

Thanks.

If you are patient, you can wait for the next 15-20% off sale they have. I would think it'd be soon; around the 4th Anniversary in early February.

Plus we get another free ship during the anniversary.

If ships ain't your thing, what are you looking at? Crew members? Different Uniforms?

You could always blow your 7 grand on the next lockboxes. You might (loooooow %) get the next sought after ship and sell it for big $$ on the exchange.

If you're already a gold member with an LTS. I would say pick up the 100 extra Doff space upgrade. Only having 100 Doffs is a pain when you start wanting to upgrade them all to blue/purple.

Having the extra room helps alot.

Besides the good advice on waiting for a sale, I'd just add there's really nothing in the C-Store you need, so I'd just grab whatever strikes your fancy, or that you think would be useful.

Personally, I like practical things like extra bank slots, more doff roster slots (I'd definitely recommend getting at least 200 if you plan on using the doff system much). And I got a few other cosmetic things for fun. Uniforms, interior bridges and layouts like the Belfast. Again, nothing that's needed, but it increased my personal enjoyment. Just pick what you like.

If you're not interested in ships, then I suggest inventory slots, bank slots, boff slots, costume slots, and costumes. Or turn a hunk of that Zen into dilithium to buy in-game stuff.

It's a bad time to buy Dil for Zen. The ratio of that is really low atm. Last I looked you only get 88 Dil per Zen. It's a Zen buyer's market right now. A couple months ago it was around 125 Dil per Zen. The new Dominion Lockbox should (might?) re-energize the market.

I'd look into getting a few of the Z-ships just for the "gimmick" consoles.

Thunderchild gives http://www.stowiki.org/Console_-_Uni...Defense_System

Oberth gives: http://www.stowiki.org/Console_-_Uni...lasma_Manifold

Together they only cost 1500 Zen.

You can buy LockBox keys and turn some of that Zen into EC.

I would also wager a new C-store 3 pack coming out in the near future, perhaps some kind of destroyer.
