Timid creatures being used to grind for loot with no effort

Some Foundry "grind" missions are now using enemies set to "Timid Creature" in order to allow grinding for loot with little effort on the part of the player. A bunch of ships spawn that don't fight back, and you just sit back and blow them up.

Suggested solution: Make it so enemies set to timid creature do not drop loot. This would actually fit the timid creature behavior better anyway, since if you attack them you're basically just being mean and shouldn't be rewarded for it.

WHAT ?
This can't possibly be true.
I can't believe such things as you are saying.

(sarcasm circuits off)

This is one of the biggest problems in the foundry at this moment.
Making it so that any mob set to timid creature does not drop any loot is a great solution.

But really, i have no idea what you are talking about.
I haven't been thinking about writing these kind of missions so I can begin mass submitting them to cryptic for consideration as spotlights !

Seriously, this needs to be looked at.

EDIT: It is being looked at and investigated. -Brandon

Do any of us actually use this feature as it's intended to be used? I personally wouldn't care if it was entirely removed from the Foundry. It's not like we can have consequences for the player not keeping a ship safe from attackers.

The only thing it seems good for in space is an exploit. Am I wrong?

I can imagine a number of circumstances where I'd want a timid creature space or ground element, like 'blow up the derelict' or whatever.

I just don't think it should drop loot.

In general, I'd really rather devs adjust rewards than remove what elements we manage to have in the system.

That might be asking for a mechanic in the Foundry that currently isn't even there, and might have to be built from the ground up. It would be cool if they could make such a feature, but for the time being, I'd rather that they just take it out for now. There are lots of ways that we can beam over bombs and blow up a derelict ship.

I would exchange the added functionality of timid for a "top rated" listing that showcases what should be top-rated for story, not for an exploit.

Plus it will be a glorious day, when half of the playerbase in sto logs in to get easy money and finds their ship taking on 25 battleships in one spot.

Its seems from the 4 or 5 active posts about "Grinder" Foundry missions, the majority of the playerbase uses and needs and likes them. But a small but very vocal group of foundry authors dont like that it takes away from the missions they created. And that they will not rest until the player base must play 2 hour missions that they have created and have little to no reward, (the reward is to be beholden to thier genius story telling). And that anything that is created in "thier" foundry must meet with this groups approval or they will raise thier voices to heaven and call down the nerf of the Gods upon them. Forget what the masses want, its the Dev's duty to respect the wishes of this small put powerful sect.

No, BF does that stealth edit so the thread doesn't show up in "dev posts." Oh wait you have a sideways smiley, so maybe that is what you are saying too.

No, wait, I don't know. Maybe he meant to hit quote. :p

To answer the question, I do like this feature. If it's removed it would not be a total loss, but all things equal, I would very much prefer if it were kept in and just tweaked.

Well, I'm pretty sure they didn't intend for someone to just spawn in and blow up 25 battleships that just sit there, while getting tons of loot. Regardless of the validity of the grinders, the timid creature grinders cross the line. I don't see how anyone could feel that is not an exploit.
