Assult Cruiser build Please :D
I have an under performing assult cruiser lets say, while its fine for tanking ( a fleet mate helped with that) But I feel like it could be something more..My charc is a VA eng with perks for warp core and crit hit..( i m not at home so I can not give you my charc build)
At the moment I m going through changing to dist and plasma hybird beam banks is there anything I can do to get its DPS pushed up
My BOFF skills are
Tach:2xtacteam1 1x faw(beam array)
Eng:2x emgpts,1x acet beam, 1xEpw,2xrspl
Sci:1x polhul1, HEII
My issue is I see other people with the same ship I have and it dancing and I feel like I ve taken the wrong advise, I love to experiment and everything...but each time I told to stop it cos I fly a cruiser its supposed to do that, fly around very slowly and fire beams that seem to do nothing but give you a massive head ack in terms of power..tac team don't really help me much with this ethoir particaly when firing all 8, its fine when EPS is on or weops battery or something to control it. I try to ration those BOFFs but its a pain in the butt.
I am consdering getting rid of one tact team for a torp spread paried of with a nice rare qunt torp, with critH/cirt D any throughts ?
It depends for what you want to use your ship. My Fleet Heavy Cruiser retrofit (assault cruiser layout)
Tactical Team I, Attack pattern Delta I
Beam Fire at Will I or Beam Overload I
Emergency Power to Weapons I, Aux to SIF I, Emergency Power to Shields III, DEM 3
Emergency Power to Engines I, RSP I, Extended Shields II
Hazzard Emmiters I, Science Team II
2x damage control doffs (purple)
2x development lab doff
1x DEM doff or Extended Shield doff
6x beam, 2x whatever (I use 2x photon front)
Maco Shield + whatever 2 bonus you want from other sets
2x SIF console, 1x Armor Console, 1x whatever you want console
3x Shield Emmiter Console
3x Energy type console
The idea is to just use Emergency Power to Shields and weapons for almost 100% uptime (thanks to damage control doff) and to heal yourself with science team II when your shields are down. Good dmg, good team support skills, awesome tank.
First thing's first: Do the special event mission and get the T5 ambassador class, because it's better than the assault cruiser.

My assult crusier is going to have a change of role now to a tanker/healer but I want the best damage out put as a I can...like I said in my open post, firing all 8 beam banks= owch on power and can not make it perferm all the time during combat.
I also fly a escort as well so some BOFF skills I would like to use on that. and the same for my ambassador
Also it will take me ages to get borg stuff need alone anything else on that :P
Here's is something close to what I run on my cruiser. Mine is slightly different cause I don't fly the AC.
Deflector: Assimilated Borg Deflector
Engines: Assimilated Impulse Engines
Shields: M.A.C.O. Resilient Shield
This combo makes you very tough to take down. The two set borg bonus is great and M.A.C.O. shield is arguably the best shield in the game.
3x(whatever energy type you want) Beam Arrays, Wide Angle Quantum Torpedo Launcher/Omega or Romulan are also good options. I like the wide angle so that I can fire my torpedo while I broadside.
3x(whatever energy type you want) Beam Banks, Borg Kinetic Cutting Beam
Borg Assimilated Console
Tachyokinetic or whatever you like (I use the Borg, Rom, and Tach to get my crit change and severity % up)
3xwhatever energy type you went with
Bridge Officer Skills:
Lt Tac: Tactical Team 1, Torpedo: Spread 2
Ens Tac: Beam: Fire at Will 1

The above build is rather tanky and can still put out some decent numbers.
Okay well I ll get back the torp spread as I need to anyways for my escort, got a nice trop flak thing going on ;)
When I built my Assault cruiser I used the following
Fore: 3x beam array of choice, 1x torp of choice
Aft: See fore
Eng: Monotanium Mk XI (Purple), 2x Neutronium Mk XI (Blue), Borg
Sci: 2x Field Generator Mk XI (Blue)
Tac: 3x Energy type of choice
Lt Tac: TT1, AP:B1
Eng Tac: FAW1
CMDR Eng: EPtS1, EPtW2, Aux2SIF2, EWP2/3
LTC Eng: EPtW1, EPtS2, RSP2
LT Sci: HE1, TSS2
Warp Core Engineer (Purple), 2x Projectile weapons
If you have 3 pruple damage control engineers you can use the slots with EPtX2 in them for something else. This build allows you to hold your weapon power overcapped increasing damage from your beams while maintaining high shield power, the AP:B will add to team DPS and with the aux power being high you can still use some fairly powerful heals, you wont do as much damage as some of the more damage oriented builds (See Aux2Batt) but you will do enough damage that with 3 points in threat control you can hold aggro off escorts, heal it off and still do enough DPS to contribute.
If you only have 1 TT, a purple Conn Officer is pretty important.
