how to make the world dark?
As above, what is the setting for the darkest outdoor backdrop and indoor too.

there are night time settings. also the qo'nos under siege backdrop is pretty grim. not sure you can make it that dark though unless you throw in a map wide effect like smoke.

these are accessed by clicking on a free section on a map and down the bottom changing the background.

cant do a whole heap with interior maps though other than selecting a map wide effect.

Night - 02 I think is the darkest for outside.

Inside - no idea.

There is no way to affect the lighting inside as such though certain backdrops also include map wide effects. The "Barge of the Dead" map (not the proper name, can't recall that but shows in the description--the one with the boat) has a kind of eerie fog.

Would it be fair to ask cryptic to give us the Drazona haunted backdrop? We've been asking for that howlong now ?

ajstoner 02-04-2013 06:13 AM

It would be entirely fair. Also pointless.

I'm starting my Halloween mission.

The darkest set that I can make can be seen in "The Dance of the Dead," second map. I don't think it's possible to make a set any darker.

I built the set on an exterior ground map, up in the sky, with a night backdrop.

Wasn't there a way to build outside a of a space station map? In the dark section.

Yes, BUT, it uses the same lighting style as if you were inside.

I managed to make my underground map in Darkness between the Stars that way by adding dark particle effects, but my trick for making the walls dark was to choose a backdrop with lighting that clashed with the color of the walls. IE, I used a backdrop that had primarily green lighting(TRD..something) in a map that didn't reflect that color. The TRD backdrop isn't particularly dark, it's about mid-range, but the way it interacted with the purple cave walls made the walls look almost black. I tossed in some black-ish particle effects to add a bit more gloom.
