Fleet Heavy Escort Carrier
I really love my Akira, infact I would go as far to say that out of all the ships in the game, this one is my favorite. I had been looking for a vessel with the power of an escort and some more durability since the game started.

So why do people bash it so much in PvP, its a capable vessel with a good supportive and tactical applications. Sure, it cannot best a Bug Ship or a Defiant but it still functions well as a support ship in PvP.

So why do people keep telling me its a bad ship in PvP?

...guess may i'm the wrong one for an answer. would never say so, it can be a monster ;)....
the only prob to me is that tac-ens-slot (should be uni!). but if you pack the torpedo console from z-store-variant you even can benefit from that slot while having a cannon-build.
so you almost only got the eng and sci stations of an "normal" escort"(+1 eng ability), more capability to survive but less turnrate, while jhec f.e. almost has a layout close to the bug (except turnrate).
my suggestion: 1x rca, 1x apo (3 purple doffs) + danubes to make it competetive.
sometimes i do very well in mine, sometimes i just hit evasives+engbatts all the time...

edit: it can beat bugs and defiants... at least it's always on the pilots and teams ;)...

i like the akira, would like it more if it didn't have that carrier nonsense attached. its a ship with a turn rate disadvantage, but it can have pets that hold, and can run real more creative builds. DEM2, RSP2, EWP1, in addition to standard escort options its got several other things it can bring to bear. people who say it sucks were proboly trying to fly it like a normal escort, but it would require something a bit less cookie cutter.

with TB1, EWP1, and runabouts, you can have your opponent turning and moving much worse then you. or take DEM2, its very strong with rapid fire cannons, and can be a useful direct to hull damage buff.

you can run damage control doffs and have EPtS2 and any of the other EPtX1 skills both at their global with just 1 copy. get 2 attack pattern doffs and you can have APO at about its global if you have APD too. run 3 cannons and a torp to use the 3rd ens tac station for HY1, pare up the well times torp launch with the launch of that photon point defense console and you can potentially have more kinetic burst to hull.

ive been thinking about getting one for a wile, but them AP doffs are spendy, i'd want them first before i got the ship

Because they can't beat it. 99% of all PvP-related complaining is to complain that something is too overpowered and unbeatable.

Its turnrate is horrible, and hence it become more target practice then anything else.

I think I see what happened.

Armitage Fleet and Normal have always had a base turn rate of 15.

Jem'Hadar Escort carrier had its base turn rate bumped up to 13 from 12 with the last patch.

This thread is in regards to the former, not the latter.
