Seems pretty common. I had it two or three times. Once with me in space without a suit!

planetary landing
 
I have had this happen to me as well. It usually corrects itself within 2 or 3 seconds. Have landed on a planet while still in ship and have beamed back onto the ship only to see my avatar walking around in space. But like I said it corrects itself after about 2 or 3 seconds.
