Happy First Contact Day

April 5th 2063

The day humanity encountered the Vulcans and learned they are not alone in the universe.

Today is April 5th 2013, 50 years exactly before First Contact

I don't know if you can celebrate an event that hasn't happened yet, but call it a 50th Pre-Anniversary if you need to, but 50 years from know we will be running into the Vulcans. :D

I'm surprised the devs didn't catch this and do something for it.

And we are also in the middle of a eugenics war not that anyone notices anything lately because they are too busy playing internet space ships.

Happy First Contact Day!

And they did =P http://sto.perfectworld.com/news/?p=858521

This is the second year STO has had a First Contact Day event, and it's the first year for the Klingon Empire's Day of Honor event going on at the same time.

It's not First Contact Day without a ship sale, though! (:D)

I think you misspelled "Magic Carpet Ride."

Don't get me wrong i love the song and think that was a great scene, but am I the only one that finds it odd he was using a song that was nearly one hundred years old at that point? And T'Mir and company could easily have heard Ooby Dooby when they were stranded in Pennsylvania over one hundred years before the flight of the Phoenix. In the end, we have to chalk it up to Cochrane having good taste in music.

Same reason we always here Classical music in TNG...everything after the 90's burned up in a Nuke

I like to imagine every starship has that one guy or gal who eschews classical music for rock, metal, rap or some such. Like in his off time Ensign Carmine likes to use the holodeck to go to Mastodon concerts or something and listens to Skalmold in his quarters at max volume. Him and his little clique in the ship lounge talk about how deep and existential the lyrics of Dethklok's I Ejaculate Fire are. And they'd call it all "classic rock".
