Starbase contribution changes might make things worse...
A while ago, borticus asked in another thread, what people were thinking about changing input requirements for starbase doffs. Assignments that would require Medical doffs could be turned into assignments that required Medical or Science doffs, therefore theoretically reducing the amount needed of a certain, rarer type of profession.
I guess most people who were thinking this to be good idea (including myself), thought it would include the big assignments which currently require 60 Medical as well as 60 Science doffs for example and turn them into a single assignments requiring 120 Medical and Scientists.
Now the following was implemented on Tribble on the 11th:
(e.g. "Provision Science Operational Assets")
Assignments that only required one certain type, e.g. 60 Science, get changed to require 60 Science and Medical.
(e.g. "construct Transwarp Conduit").
Since there are afaik currently no assignments that solely require Medical dept Doffs, but quite a few (incl. certain big ones) that require Science Doffs, the strain on the already small numbers of available Medical will become even bigger as they will now be dumped into former Science-only assignments as well.
So in the end, this change, even though it was intended to help, might make the situation even worse if the assignments requiring half/half aren't included.
So, for instance, Practice Fleet Tactical Exercises IV will require 90 security or tactical officers, and 90 security or tactical officers.
Yep, they went back on that, and retroactively changed the 6/11 patch notes.
