Shummer movie: Is Star Trek V a good choice?

We all know that Star trek V had been joked as "the end of the franchise", and so I actually skipped it. But looking back from 20 odd years now, do you think it's an okay choice as a Summer flick at home, or a literal case of do not even bother?

I'm weird because I Liked it (with the exception of Wile-E-Klingon's scenes...) but it's really more of a mid-winter philosophizing movie, as opposed to the standard action-movies the other five in the set are.

Go for it!

(It is funny, got a movie mistake (quite large in it) and the ending is kinda crappy, but it is better than the 2009 film, so yeah go for it!

Its an ok film. there are some good moments and some bad.

its all subjective anyway. you might as well give it a go.

There are parts that are decent. I really like the kirk/spock/mccoy scenes, they are some of the best scenes of their friendship in the entire 6 movies. And of course, who can forget Kirk's famous question?

On the downside, while a great idea, the execution of the plot is a mess, the effects are rather dodgy compared to the other films and the great peril is pretty empty.

Give it a go. Only you can decide if you like it.

Unless you're one of the guys that derive pleasure from watching terrible movies (I do at certain times), I wouldn't suggest "Final Frontier." It's a terrible Star Trek movie. The story is ridiculous, the villain is pathetic, the center of the universe shtick was absolutely dumb. And to top it off, with Star Trek at least being respected for good special effects, "Industrial Light and Magic" wasn't exactly used right (and too expensive) for Final Frontier. The result was some very noticeably bad effects and scenes.

Kirk falling of the cliff looked awful.

"Final Froniter" is one of those movies to a franchise that you wish you could make it disappear with nobody knowing about it, and every fan would be better off.

It's a terribly stupid movie. And I'm so glad that the TOS crew got the best sendoff movie of the entire franchise with "Undiscovered Country." If the TOS crew were to end their run with "Final Frontier," it would have been sad...

Great movie if you're sitting in the front row of the theatre next to your two robot friends making cat-calls. Follow it up with the Star Wars Christmas Special to really round out your experience.

Insurrection doesn't look so bad after you've seen ST:V.

In my humble opinion, Insurrection and Generations are far worse than Star Trek V.

Yes, the story in Trek V is pretty lame, but the character interactions are very fun, IMO.

It's on par with the less-than-stellar episodes of TOS.
