Deep Space Encounters
I can understand why you might want to force some encounters to happen but it seems to be a little too enthusiastic. For instance, why should I have to be stopped on an auto-nav flight to talk to a merchant who offers me no quest? Or why, when I hit a Klingon encounter, did I have to attempt to leave it several times, each time hardly able to start my drive before I was dropped back into the encounter. I suggest that some encounters, like merchants, never be proximity triggered and that leaving others deposits you far enough away from them that you don't immediately fall back into them.
