Weapon DPS vs Value
So I'm upgrading my ship and looking at possible weapon combinations and I noticed something odd. This issue extends across multiple weapon types, but I'll use cannons for the example. The numbers are identical for disruptor or phaser cannons.
Essentially, an escort will come with Phaser Dual Cannons Mk II, which do 119 weapon damage and 158 DPS. Their value is 11 energy credits. Now, Phaser Dual Heavy Cannons Mk II do 237 weapon damage and 158 DPS, but their value is 1,081.
Basically, the weapons are do the same damage, but apparently fire at different rates. And yet one costs 100 times more than the other. Why? Is the DPS number wrong on one of them? Why bother with different weapon damage totals if they output the same amount of damage in the end?
It just seems really odd to me that for 11 energy credits you can get the same DPS as if you spent 1,081. And these are vendor values, not exchange values. Is this a problem or are all Mk II weapons of the same type just supposed to be essentially equal in damage output?
Edit: I tested out the two different cannons, and the timers don't appear to be different. So I think the DPS number might be wrong on them.
