Deflectors and science consoles

There are quite a lot of different deflectors, bonus to sensors, tractor beam, deflector, emitters, sensor array (same as sensors?). Same with science consoles, photonic, spatial anomaly and so on. But what does what?

Tractor Beam is obvious. Deflectors I am not so sure of. Emitters I reckon is for the Tachyon beam? That's about as far as I have come in understanding them. Anyone? :)
