Exploration Mission Cooldown
 
Now, I play a science ship, and as such, with the crappy loot tables currently in play, I see very few commons even, let alone greens (outside of storyline rewards). So I found myself at LC4, with my next mission at LC6 and realizing I was still sitting on mostly the MKIII loot I'd purchased from the stores, i.e. phaser array mk3, photon launcher mk3.

So, I decided, lets earn some of those awesome exploration badges and take advantage of those vendors offering MKIV equipment! Sure, it's not going to score me quantums or anything, but maybe I'll find some good random loot while playing by myself grinding on em.

So did my first 3 missions, got my 75 badges (from the mission), then looked to see the first set of weapons cost 77. No biggie.

Talked to the guy to pick up the mission.... there's a cooldown, the mission isn't available for about an extra 15 minutes. Now, this makes no sense to me.

I can grind Sulu's missions all day (if your an Escort wanting drops/xp).
I can grind PvP for rewards all day.
But exploration, while I can do the missions just because (for crap xp and drops) there's a cooldown on the mission for the badges.

Please remove the cooldown. I'm tired of waiting 15 minutes in between Hromi missions. :P

There are two clusters full of exploration anomalies per level. So if you do one you can then go ahead and do the next.

By the time you have finished that one you should then have waited out the cooldown on the first cluster and can go back to that one.

So by going back and forth between them you can quickly get those badges you need to get the items you need.

the second cluster is not available until several levels later, it kinda feels like "why should i bother with rank 1 badges when i'm about to get access to rank 2 badges"

pvp badges, and it's gear, can be repeated ad nauseum immediately to get the gear you want. It's a minor quibble really, but the cooldown on exploration missions is annoying.

I agree 100%, considering how many other gameplay options there are that don't have this wait it doesn't feel right. And splitting yourself into different exploration areas doesn't work either. Generally only the equipment from your furthest unlocked exploration area is going to benefit you, unless you want to put all the items up kn the exchange

you are quite right, it is totally unfair to explorers. That and the aid the planet missions need to diaf untill we can replicate the crap they need. I am not paying 4k to complete some of these
Also the markers in the sector part need to scale a bit with distance.

anyone who argues the ops point is simply doing so to look cool and will probably have no valid reason

Completely agree. The cool down is pointless, and I also despise the aid planet missions you mentioned. Add the items back into the ship's replicator like they used to be, and I might consider completing the aid missions. Currently aid missions equals automatic warp out for me.

Agreed.. its bad when I can make a round trip back to Sol to buy new equipment and then drive all the way back to Hromi and I still can't take a new mission yet. I feel like a kid in the back seat everytime I check to see if the mission is available yet.. "are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet, are we there yet."

And I also agree about the supplies.. either make them replacatable, or seriously reduce their price.

For the aid missions buy the items from a trader ship. They have them for you.

Yes there should be now cool down.

The cooldown is a good thing. Means people have to mix it up a bit. And, yes, the Deep Space Encounter missions need to have one as well.

What I do is an exploration mission, then a regular one, then another exploration mission. Simple enough. Though I have also just continued to do system missions inside the exploration zone until it refreshes.

What I'd like to see is the devs adding wandering ships to the exploration zones. There should always be at least one commodity merchant wandering around each exploration zone.

Given the cooldown I think exploration missions should be dropped to ONE anomoly to complete or the rewards needs to be tweaked.

You earn 75 badges to go to 3 areas which I find rather inappropriate for the amount of effort involved.
Especially when it seems decent equipment is stuck at 77 badges thus you have to do two sets of these missions to actually get anything.

Even the ground equipment is over 75 except the weapons, thus your looking at an hours work for ONE item.

Thus I propose it just be one system you explore every 30mins. It takes the strain off the systems since less people fighting over the poor spawn rate of these things. Its not as bad as it was but if Cryptic expect this to become a popular endevour the amount of people is going to increase with server population.
