rep/exp/other gated systems on the best gear is a time sink.

if done well, it buys the devs time to do a major overhaul or create content expansions, while giving the current players something to do.

ideally such systems should get the cost reduced later so they dont sicken old players and create insurmountable power gaps that impede or even exclude new players.

done badly it becomes the focus of the game, resulting in players getting bored.

it would be nice to see an actual game plan from cryptic, to show where they want to go and what landmarks they are working toward, that they are buying with these timesinks, even if it doesnt have dates to it.
Figure out and address the players path of least resistance to reward. this one thing is THE consistent factor undermining all your efforts. be that crafting, raids or starbase projects.
