Wierd people that imprison to kill Wesley for jumping over the wrong white fence. Kazon, Talaxians, Etc. are so different than the "alien of the week" with no makeup budget. Ferengi Marauders, Jem'Hadar weapons that pop cruisers faster than anything ever shot at Kirk (until they're techobabbled into mediocraty). Q seems to fill in for the Organians / Excalibans / Trelane, Etc...

Vs. the "mandatory" meeting in the conference room where everyone has to contribute their fail plan that gets modified into the successful plan of the week. At least these delays occur in multiple locations (sickbay, engine room, occasionally the briefing room). The weekly "hit on lady" was "pleasantly missed" in TNG, but got brought back full force with Worf - Jadzia and 7 of 9 - though it was the same woman every episode... And remember, Riker used to keep Picard banished to the bridge so he could get all the landing party glory and Chakotay was so full of "your starfleet ways don't work with my crew" for a season or two...

Yet Scotty, the penultimate Redshirt, survived the whole series without a single bloody nose or black eye. Redshirts + low rank = victim. Seems TNG spent so much money on makeup they couldn't afford to hire the extra to bite it every other episode...

Personal matter of taste. Ever since they "squished" the saucers with the Excelsior, I've been gagging at almost every ship they've designed. There's something about the flat plane to "rising bubbles" on the Connie / Miranda has that gives them that "starship" feel, and don't get me started on the "streamline pointed arrows" of the Intrepid / Soverign / etc...

I will not argue this point. I appreciate a good chunk of TNG-era Trek, but have a soft spot for what I grew up on. Many others in this thread are of the same viewpoint. Many of us ask for (at least a couple) opportunities to enjoy "our" favorite Trek in STO like all you TNG-era fans can enjoy "your" Trek...
Well, with the upgrade announcement leaving NX and Connie fans in the dust again, can we restart / revisit the T5 Connie and NX threads - since they will no longer be "truly" endgame ships... (after we get the T5 versions, it'll be time to see them added to the T5U upgrade charts too...
