As the previous poster said, aux power helps and the type of engine. Combat impulse turns better at low speeds, hyper impulse turn better at high speeds. Normal impulse engines seem to be pretty balanced.
There is no option to match speed or heading that I'm ware of.
There is no key to select the target's target, but when using a power, it will select the proper target. For example, when targeting a friendly, and you hit fire weapons, they will shoot at your friends target. Also, when targeting an enemy and you hit engineering team, or science team, it will target the enemies target. So that helps a lot.
