I find the idea redundant with what is in place.
I have an away team. Who have ground based combat skills; but nothing related to ships.
And on the ship's "bridge" I have a chief engineer assigned to my ship's engineer station (which is usually in the engineering section of the ship; though can be rerouted to the bridge); a science officer; and a tactical officer. Some of those have ground skills.
At Admiral rank you have 10 slots of bridge officers; thats more than enough to have a double crew. You want MORE? From what I saw about your bonus idea; it seems to be stepping on the ship consoles territory (the inventory items; not the slots where you place the officers)
