It's a shame they don't use an Enterprise-level relational database such as MS SQL Server or Oracle to manage that data. It would go a long way of reducing that complexity if they are currently using a home-grown database. Since Eve's SQL Server can handle all the transaction and storage data in that game, Cryptic should really consider using a similar relational database in their games. Now if they are using an Enterprise-level database to manage transactions and storage, then I must shake my head because the interface between the game and database engines is poor and they need to devote some resources to improving it.
