Why would the Dominion War make Klingons want to join Starfleet? Did I miss something? The war brought them a new leader; a decorated hero to bring the empire back to old glory. That would be more a reason to stay and build up their own fleet and all.

The borg conflict after the dominion war might be more relevant in strenghtening klingon/human relations.
