It's part of what happens with the borg conflict after the dominion war. It's not "canon" in the same way this game isn't "canon" ... but both that conflict ... and this game appear in the same non-canon pocket books. In fact, much of this game's backstory is from those books and published in the STO novel's "timeline" so it's soft canon is actually oddly enough part of this game's canon.

So ... the things that happened in the borg conflict after the dominion war ... would have some relevance in how klingons view humans. I refer specifically to the U.S.S. Ranger and what it did at Khitomer and how Martok used that sacrifice to manipulate the council.
