I honestly don't think it takes that much time to model and texture a ship for STO also, I'm pretty sure I could pull it off if I had the specifications Cryptic has for the models, since I know my way around 3dsMax and Photoshop pretty well.

The spaceships in STO are really easy to make, they don't have any moving parts, there is no complicated rigging, no deformations you can apply to them during character creation, really nothing to it.
Actually it takes a lot of time, because all the non-klingon and non-starfleet ships are not at all set up for the games ship system, that involves mixing and matching parts and would just not work with stock federation ships.
This thank goodness is why your abomination of an idea will never happen.
