Yup. Cryptic has clearly rolled us early adopters for money. STO will go down in MMO history as one of the top release success stories (they made a bundle at launch) with one of the worst/lowest continued subscription base.

I paid...
  • $60 Champions Online sub just to get "guaranteed" access to STO closed beta
  • $239.99 for lifetime sub
  • $59.95 for STO Digital Deluxe Edition from Direct2Drive
  • $79.99 for STO Collector's Edition from Gamestop
  • $62.50 for 5000 Cryptic points (still have a ton left)
That's $502.43 spent on an unfinished product that I rarely play anymore because content updates are far and few in-between, let alone the content itself is boring and repetitive.

Some of the spending was purely my fault (the collector's edition and the Cryptic points), but the lifetime sub, CO sub, and initial DDE were bought based upon what Cryptic said STO was going to be. And it never became even a sliver of what the community was told during development and the two betas. Oh well. $500 blown on a cruddy MMO is a lesson for me (I never spent that much before on any single game, MMO or not).
