Characters don't need to THE one hero to be interesting. They don't need to be "legendary" and pull victories out of their asses. Starfleet isn't held together by a single person, and being a cog in the wheel doesn't mean that they lead boring lives.

Hear, hear! I also play LOTRO, and in that game you don't get to be a member of the Fellowship, you're just a random doing background work to help in the war, and while the stuff you do is important it's not the most important. You only occasionally cross paths with the people doing the big stuff.
