Warp plasma is a reasonably good trick, but we don't all run Cruisers/Nebulas.

YES, I know I can use Beam: Fire at Will and Cannon: Scatter Volley, and I do. As I have already explained though these reduce your DPS onto an actual player target.

While a fed wastes time shooting down the 50+ pets that have been spawned, the Klinks gain an enormous tactical advantage. They can heal up, regroup, recharge powers, etc... all because the carrier doesn't lose anything by launching pets.

The fundamental problem here is that a carrier can launch a crap-load of pets to keep opponents busy, AND still perform a function in the team, be it healing, DPS (don't BS me, a carrier CAN do measurable DPS), or whatever...
