As iceroid said.... If I lost one of my CritHx3 weapons I would litterly hack that persons cpu and remove there ability to log in again EVER... just kidden.
Honestly some sort of Death Penalty is fine... that is not it though. Really what makes sense... repairs are just EC sinks which is dumb... loosing items won't work... I'll be PvPing with whites from then on, as that's all you really need to kill people anyway.
If you want to be forced to grind when you die... ya there's Eve.
Now a Leader board.... now that works. Win and move up... kill higher ranks move up faster... get killed by same rank move down... get killed by lower rank move down faster. That we could live with, or I could.
Some other MMOs' track Kills... and Killer Blows. Seems that Cyrptic has that ability to do that as they added recently. They just need to come up with a point system. Anyone doing dmg to a ship gets points... someone getting the KB gets a bonus... point values move up and down depending on your victims rank. (To keep people from just spamming AOEs to get some points... you add a ratio system that tracks kills / deaths / KBs... so that your ratio effects the amount of points you get, and values your Fame rank. lol)
A ranking system could make for MEANINGFUL PvP rewards.... as in 50 emblems buy X weapon... must be PvP rank 4 to use... ect. They could even add Devices with 2 min cool downs that don't stack with themselves or other reward devices... things geared to PvP... like what about 75-100 point emblem devecies that "cure" stuns every 2-5 min... or give you repel immunity for 20 seconds every 5 min.... and you must be rank whatever to use it.
Yes higher ranked players would get better gear... which they would use to shoot other higher rank players. Low rank players that get a kill on a higher rank will get massive PvP XP bonuses... higher ranked players that kill lower ranked players will get diminished rewards.
