T1 ship builds for later level play

I'm up to RA5 on my tac in my Nova.
It can be difficult to defeat enemies sometimes.
You don't want to engage multiple groups at once that's for certain.
I currently run with Hazard Emitters 2, Transfer shield strength 1, Polarize Hull 1, emergency power to shields 1, and Fire at will 1. Most of my powers are geared toward survival.
On the skills, there's alot of them that won't be useful for the ship you're piloting, saving you from having to invest points there, allowing you to spend more into BO power boosting ones, and energy boosting ones.
Also, learning to use your power levels effectively can help. I've recently went and determined at what engine power level I get the most efficient defense bonus at and tweaked my levels to accommodate that and I'm seeing how it turns out.
