1. What ship(s) did you fly as you ranked up? For each, primarily PvE, PvP or both? Group or solo?
The starting pseudo Bird of Prey and then the Raptor Line. I flew with one partner and stuck primarily to PvE as PvP was unappealing and often very hard to find at lower ranks.
2. What ship(s) do you fly at cap? For each, primarily PvE, PvP or both? Group or solo?
I flew the end level Raptor towards Cap and now I fly the Guramba Siege Destroyer. I still fly primarily with one partner and have not participated in a lot of PvP due to being distracted with another character.
3. Which ship(s) do you think are currently overpowered? PvE, PvP, or both? Specifically why?
Carriers are RATHER Powerful as are the MVAE, Dreadnaught, and Intrepid... I would not honestly call them overpowered however. They are tough but each has their fatal flaws if you know how to properly exploit them. To me, to be Overpowered they need to be pure "I win" buttons with no real counter.
That is PvPwise though. PvE I would say the Crystalline Entity is high on that list and Borg Cube's are pretty sick with their shield drain and enormous warp core breech radius. However, I am generally fine with this considering a weak Borg would feel wrong and pathetic.
4. Which ship(s) do you think are currently underpowered? PvE, PvP, or both? Specifically why?
Cruiser type ships in general strike me as next to useless in the grand scheme of things. They are hard to kill and can heal but this has limited usefulness. They cannot draw Aggro in PvE because their firepower is too weak so Escorts and similar ships end up taking this role. So they do not often Tank. In PvP they are not worth trying to kill over softer targets so again their tanking is often irrelevant. Raptors are a better version like a Cruiser with Teeth and Carriers are a true cruiser, being very heavy and having tons of staying power mixed with awesome healing and field control abilities. With Raptors and Carriers Cruisers are redundant and obsolete in the KDF and it is not that much better for the Federation.
As for healing boats they are ok at Hull Heals but Sciships are nearly as good and just as good for healing shields. Seems how you want to tank on your shields it is better to keep those alive. Also Sci vessels are better and stopping the incoming damage for awhile whereas cruises cannot do this task.
5. What feature of your favorite ships do you like the most? As in, console configurations, station configurations, aesthetics, special abilities, etc.?
I think the Raptors generally look rather nice. I love the look of the Klingon Cruisers. I think the BoP's are sexy ships as well. I found the toughness + the tac heavy BOFF setup, weapon slots, and console slots on the raptors to be a superb combination. Added to their bonuses it all made the Raptor a tough and DEADLY bird to face down in any situation.
I find the Guramba is more like flying two ships. One ship is a fast and nimble Raptor and the other is a Vor'Cha. It is neat how I can flip between roles as needed. While the Javelin is decently powerful I think it could use to fire a bit faster (not charge but just fire when you hit the button) and perhaps be slightly more potent due to having to charge it up. Otherwise the Jav is mostly just a side bonus with the real power of the Guramba being its ability to choose what sort of ship it is to fit the situation IMO. I also love how it looks like a spider or claw and is so vicious looking in siege mode like it is coming to get you.
I also found flying the Klingon Fighter to be rather fun. It was very fast and nimble, killed with great ease, and hardly took any damage when I did the Vault with it. That ship just felt awesome and powerful for being such a little runt.
