I must agree here. The backgrounds and ambiance feels good, but this ship, http://pc.ign.com/dor/objects/142701...112518617.html looks sorta like a toy model that blew a fart on a moon and left in a hurry judging by the vapor trails.

I'm not trying to knock the art department. I think they are doing a fine job. But can we get just a smidgen of attention back toward the ship textures?

Texturing can be awesome. Paint some more glowy windows, etc. and the ships could appear more alive! We will see planets by the hundreds (I assume), but we will have to look at our ship 24/7.

Don't get me wrong. I like the game, the concept, the design, and the art, up to this point; and I love these new screenies; but maybe, just maybe, some new focus on ship textures?
