Make that "if everyone currently subscribing dropped to a silver account,
and C-store purchases from current and new players didn't make up the difference." There are a lot of people out there who, grumpily or enthusiastically, will drop a lot (or some) cash on the C-store now and then. Many games that have gone, or started as, F2P make
more through their cash shop than they would or did from subscriptions.
If, as a subscriber, you're feeling somewhat irrelevant to the new business model... well, truth is, you are. The C-store is where the money is.
