Okay, here's one for you (reposting from my fleet forum):
Say that I visit Deep Space 9 for instance. Will we physically dock our ship on the station's docking ring or pylons, and then proceed to a third-person view and physically exit our ship? Then, of course, and other ships could see you ship docked. Or will it be more like "you want to dock at DS9 *load screen* you are now on DS9"? Personally, if Cryptic is trying to make a real Trek experience, and make it GOOD, they will make it more realistic.
Same thing goes for planetary visiting. Say I go to Bajor. In-verse, I'd place my ship in "synchronous orbit", and then go to my transporter room to beam down. Of course, maybe going to the tranporter room physically is too detailed, but it'd still be an authentic RP experience. Say I'm on the planet surface then, just sight seeing. Would other visitors to Bajor see my ship in orbit? And say that, out of the blue, some Klingon decloaks and starts firing on my ship whilest I'm on the surface. Realism has it's pros and cons.
(Of course, the way things sound, you CAN'T engage a ship unless you are in "contested space" or consent to engagement. )
What are your hopes? I can't wait to walk along the DS9 Promenade & eat a Quarks, or visit the great research starbase Jupiter Station... *dreams*
