What's wrong was that he made his purchases apparently without any understanding of how bridge officer powers work, which are a really simple thing that it's nearly impossible to level up without learning about. That would have earned him some insults on its own just for being so stupid, but then, when someone explained to him how clueless he was about extremely basic functionality of STO in a direct but not overly insulting manner, rather than thank them for explaining this information that he should have been able to learn at like level 20 he responded by calling them a no life basement dweller.
