I agree with this sentiment.

The Oort cloud is made out of chunks of ice and rocks. I'm sure they would be visible if you were close enough. Truth is... we couldn't see asteroids with a telescope if they were floating through deep space. We might notice their existence if one drifted between the telescope and a star, but we wouldn't know what it was.

Our solar system's Oort Cloud [probably] stretches halfway to the nearest solar system. what does that tell us about the universe as a whole? Maybe "deep space" is full of rocks?
