The problem with that, is when you try to do that with a video game, and you want to make everything look big and impressive, hilariously you wind up with everything looking and feeling like it's more or less the same size.
My point: The TV show did what it did so stuff looked good (and viewable) to the audience. STO (if's it's true to the IP - also has a responsibility to do the same thing -- make stuff look good and viewable to the playerbase playing the game so it looks similar to what they recall when watching a Star Trek episode.
