Is there any way to control the type (not the amount) of loot that drops?

In my space map, the player will scan formations that give off energy, so I'd like him to earn energy credits.

When he scans "anomalous readings", I'd like him to get certain types of data samples but not others.

I'd also like to do the opposite: require the player to turn something over to the NPC (like in the Diplomatic Investigations: "We need 10 Communications Arrays").
