i tend not to favor COM and LTC tac in the thing, it doesn't turn well enough to make good use of it like ships with 16 turn and up can, so you need a more diverse setup to help you control your target better, and to heal you more.

the shield vamp can be a life saver when faceing off with someone, especially if theres a ton of background targets. the faw lance thing is ok, and can do surprising damage, but is proboly more useful eliminating tough spam. its cooldown interacts with BO too, so i almost wouldn't recommend any beams on the ship at all. the +30 to targeting system is a pretty large boost, and very nice. but your shields don't get the slight passive boost in that mode.

this ship is really a RA level, sub fleet ship level ship. wile it has several nifty extras and a cool station setup, its got several built in disadvantages. the low .83 and .9 shield mods are the lowest you will find among any current end game ship, and its really notifiable when your dueling a fleet level escort, they can take more damage then you, and turn much better so they have an easier time pointing at you. the low number of consoles, only really 4 to work with after the 4 tac and the universal console are slotted, deeply limit options on the ship.

you cant stack a bunch of sci consoles on it to buff a sci skill, even though you could have 5 or 6 sci skills on the ship, you don't have room for turn consoles and armor, and borg and zero point and leach and all that stuff. so it can only have high crit, high armor, or boosted turn, pick 1 of 3. the kdf version's battle cloak is very nice though, and these ships have a very high impulse mod.

a fleet version with a higher shield mod and a 10th consoles, most likly a 3rd sci, would make a world of difference for this shings usability. fast turning escorts annihilate these large, slow turning paper shield'ed things pretty easily.

the new jem heavy escort is nearly a fleet level version of these ships, much more durable stats, more consoles, and soon only 1 less turn. its got my favorite station setup that the vet ship can have too. and with that i would recommend a tech doff build so you can have the maximum amount of non tac stations on the ship
