It's not really an opinion, though... it's a fact based on the ship's stats, relative to other escorts.
For most ships, I'd say a small disadvantage in stats is worth it if you really like the ship itself. The Aquarius, however, has over 6,000 base Hull points less than the Defiant, only around 3/4 of the Defiant's shields
, and one less aft weapons slot, while sharing the same turn rate and gaining no special abilities to make up for its lacking defenses.
It is receiving a shield boost in the next patch, but there are more problems with it than just its shields. What it really needs is a higher base turn rate, higher base speed, and higher base bonus defense. If it at least moved like a BoP, it might just be subpar instead of being abysmal.
In short, an objective look at the Aquarius shows it to be
just a little subpar.
