Because most tactical Captains don't have to realyl spec into any other skills.
they can get higher critical shots, therefore being more deady, giving an Escort 5 tactical slots to stack 5xWeapon Consoles is completely un-balanced, especially when the closest a cruiser or an science vessel can get is 3 tac console slots.
I continue to say the same exact thing in all of these threads. My concern isn't the ship types, their stats (for the most part), weapon types, firing arcs or energy usage. It.s the ability to stack tac consoles w/o diminishing returns while eng and sci condoles do have) diminishing returns. Because of this, there is an inherent (an intended) disadvantage to cruisers and sci ships.

Remove the diminishing returns of sci and eng consoles, or add them to tac consoles. This will increase parity between the careers and ship types with minimal change to the game mechanics.
