# 1 Transphasic torpedoes
02-06-2010, 06:22 AM
Ok, I thought Transphasic torpedoes pierced the shields and did normal damage to the hull once inside. I got me a MK VIII that does crap damage compared to the other launchers of its class but it pierces shields right so it should be ok.

So I fire a volley of 3 torpedoes through high-yield II, and they do around 300-400 damage per shot to the hull of a Galor as an example. If I bring the shields down first, then fire the torpedoes, they do the stated damage. Is this....normal?

Sounds normal. They pierce shields -more- than normal torpedos. They don't ignore shields completely.

unfotunatly those torpedos are total waste. the high recharge time makes them useless. high yield photons fire more often and do alot higher dps. (and even damage with bleedtrough)

quantums are high damage but only realy shine with crit severity.

but then again. all those weapons with +crit +severity.. i dont know but they dont seem to realy add anything to your ship. my ships stats stay the same. either its a bug orcryptic doesnt know what they are doing. i thought basic stats would be no problem and it was only a display bug inbeta. but it seems that your ship allways stays at 2.5% crit

The way I figure it, the added crit etc is only for that weapon, which is why it wouldn't show up in the ship's overall stats.

Thing is, in my own use I've found torps overall to be quite lacking. When I got my first escort (now using second) I found that it was simply better for DPS to fit guns all the way. But now in PVP I seem to run into Klingons doing 5,5k with every damn torp hit. Ack! Go figure.
