# 1 SPACE bar MINI GAME :)
02-09-2010, 10:45 AM
Seriously my thumb is getting tired of wacking the space bar EVERY SECOND to fire my phasers.....if you want to prevent PHOTONS/MINES from auto firing i'm fine with that they should be used tactically and in cannon you only have so many on board.....phasers/disrupters/cannons don't use ammo so there is no reason you can't tell your tactical officer to fire at will with these kinds of weapons......SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY SERIOUSLY GETTING TIRED OF 1 SECOND SPACE BAR INTERVAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STUPID FRACKING "FEATURE"

hitting the space bar to fire phasers has nothing to do with tactics, it has nothing to do with playing smart/making decisions......it's simply a wack-a-mole operation that is going to kill my space bar/thumb. I'd rather be able to focus on adjusting my power settings/heading and determining when/what BO power to be using.

i know already to many of these threads, but APPARENTLY the devs aren't listening.

--I knew it, i'm surrouned by *******s......KEEP FIRING *******s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry, i dont agree.
the concept is valid but in practice, yes you do mash your primary weapon button.
I'm far too busy watching all the other things going on like my shields, ability cooldowns, my target, torp and mine cooldowns...
if i can simply mash the spacebar so i dont have to keep looking at my weapons arrays every 30th of a second, I'm gonna do that.

it stinks, "fire at will" would be the best

If Cryptic refuses to do something about this, I'll go for a macro.

I have my G15 set up to...

Fire my weapons for me.
Spam equalize shields.
Control my throttle.
Turn my ship.

All of this automated. I enter a defend what ever sector block. Turn on my macros and go take a nap or make a sand which. I never die and all i have to do sometimes is click the collect loot button or maybe move to the next group of enemies.

I have never even dreamed of let alone see a game more shallow and easy in my life. I have been gaming since pong on ATARI. I really hope that the industry gets back to making games that take skill to play and stop catering to the instant gratification crowd that has ruined games.

Well I've been thinking of getting the G15 myself, but you realize your use of macros is against the rules. You can use macros but you must be present at your computer, not napping or snacking.

That is what i do. I would rather damage my mouse than my keyboard.

... You missed the OP's point entirely. It doesn't matter what button you push, if the action is supremely annoying (and causes Carpal Tunnel issues) then it shouldn't be part of any game.

There are many things about this game that cause me not to log in. One of the major issues is this one. After an hour or so of mashing buttons it becomes phyically uncomfortable to play this game. Changeing the button you push doesnt change the action or the end result.

Now if the game were fun after the playing the first 10 levels or so I would figure out a work around. But STO is pretty boring even for a casual game. The gameplay and quest design is too simplistic to have any long term value. And it's extremely easy.. no challenge whatsoever.

When you have a marginal game that doesn't deliver the fun then annoying button mashing becomes a huge problem.
