A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
Just curious, but...Why is the sol system the center of the galaxy in this map, klingon, and romulan space are in the alpha quadrant, but they have them in the beta quadrant. I know as far as what I have heard is the gamma, and delta quadrant will be added later. Is this just a "For now" map, or what..
Actually its not the center of the galaxy, its placed in the center of the section of the galaxy that we are looking at. I was a bit confused at first as well. This isn't the whole galaxy, just part of the the Alpha and Beta quadrants.
indeed a most of klingon and romulan space is in the beta quadrant thats why starfleet knows so little about it because they cannot go around the 2 empires and explore...
The map is not wrong but is actually earth-centric. After first contact, humanity embraced space exploration and thus proceeded to section out the galaxy for navigational purposes. Anything "West" of the Sol system was deemed the Alpha Quadrant, and anything "East" was the Beta Quadrant.
It seems most canonical series were kept busy by the never ending politics of the Klingons and Romulans, so the focus was largely on the Beta Quad. DS9, however, pulled our attention to the Alpha Quad. which seems to contain more Federation members. Of course it also introduced us to a bit of the Gamma. We have ST:Voyager to thank for making the Delta Quad more than a "really distant place where the Borg come from".
So in the end, it's just us silly humans thinking we're in the centre of the universe (read: galaxy) again. What would be neat is if the Klingon faction had this going from Qo'nos, but that would be too complicated
I was confused by the map as well. The map shows the Federation in the Beta Quadrant. I always thought the UFP was in the Alpha Quadrant.
That's thanks to DS9, you'll also notice that whenever the Romulans and Klingons mentioned the threat of the Dominion, they too only talked about the "Alpha Quadrant" even though their respective empires aren't in it. Earth has always been on the border of the Beta Quadrant and a large amount of federation space is located there.

that's mostly because the Bajoran wormhole is pretty much smack-dab in the centre of the Alpha quadrant, and even though the Klingons and romulans dont have a big presence there (they have some systems, k's more then r's), it makes sense that if the entire Alpha Quadrant fell (that's mostly starfleet, Talaran, Tzenkethi, Cardassian), that the Beta quadrant would fall next. Why make a stand in your own back yard when you can make one in your neighbours?

Thanks.
It isn't - the map doesn't even show the whole galaxy - just selected parts of the alpha and beta quandrats (we'll ignore Gamma Orionis for now).
