Cryptic is likely to be introducing FvF into the game soon (it's currently on the test server). Let's suppose, for a second, that as a consequence the KvF queues dry up, making it even more dificult to level/advance your Klingon character. What would you do then?

1) Nothing. Rely on KvK and Nebula missions.
2) "Re-roll" Federation (or simply stop playing your Klingon toon in favour of your Federation one).
3) Quit the game for good.
4) "Take a break" from the game until some favourable solution is implemented; i.e. Klingon PvE, more/better Klingon PvP.
5) None of the above (please do explain).

Please, this thread is not for arguing whether FvF will or will not affect the KDF. If you really want to tell me how wrong I am you can do so here:
http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...d.php?t=137071

What I'd like to do here is find out what people will do if the worse happens and FvF makes playing Klingon that much harder.

I'll give my Klingon a shot after the big update, but my expectations are low.

Other than that, finish playing out the Federation storyline andwait for changes that make STO worth playing.

Cryptic is dropping the ball big time if they continue making FvF, FvK, and KvK queues separate. The proper mechanic is to queue for a map, and have the system give you 5 opponents of whatever faction is available. If there are 5 Klingons in the queue, you fight them. If there are 5 Feds, you fight them. It would make no difference whether Feds or Klingons are queued, as long as there are 4 others from your faction (to group you with) and 5 more on either faction (to fight against).

To answer your original question, supposing Cryptic DOES fail horribly and leave the queues separate, AND it somehow leads to a PvP drought for Klingons (I disagree that this would happen, but that's not the question) I'd just play my Fed as a PvP character.

I suppose you could roll a traitorous Klingon Federation wiper of other species bottoms.

Then join into a Fleet composed of like types.

And then FvF as a Federation (Klingon only) fleet that is attempting to regain their honor.

No Content = No Klingons!!! (Except the aforementioned traitorous wipers of Federation bottoms.)

I would far prefer it if Cryptic made the queues such that if 10 or more Feds are queued and no new match has started in 10 minutes, they are then put into FvF match. If not, it's FvK first.

So basically, it works like this.

There is 1 queue for a certain map(say Solar Wind).
Klingons and Feds queue as per normal.

If after 10 minutes, that queue has not spawned a match, check the Fed and Klingon population queueing. If there are at least 10 Feds and less than 5 Klingons, start a 5v5 FvF. If there are at least 10 Klingons and less than 5 Feds, start a 5v5 KvK.

Within 10 minutes, if there are 5 Feds and 5 Klingons, just start a normal FvK.

Klingons live and prosper through PvP now. That's how their gameplay was advertised. You cannot just yank the rug out from beneath their feet now.

10 minutes is an unreasonably long time to wait, and it accomplishes very little other than arbitrarily punishing Federation players.

If faction-agnostic queues fire off immediately when 2 usable groups of 5 are present, then they should. Assuming that there are a much greater number of Fed players than Klingon players in queue (generally the case), the Klingons will almost always end up with quick FvK queues anyway. If anything, the complaint should be that KvK will never happen... but who really cares about KvK in the first place?

I can't imagine any Fed player who would voluntarily queue up to face Klingons if they're given the choice to face Feds instead.

Cloak is that annoying.

If they implement this, the Klingon faction is going to die.

wich is prolly what cryptic wants, for all the players to settle for what is here and roll to the fed side , while thay work on the game, while we be good boys and girls and wait patiently.

as for myself this is the only online game i am playing at the moment, that is unless i find a better one,

I haven't checked on Tribble yet, but *IF* FvF has xp and medals rewards like 'normal' pvp, it will kill off Klingons altogether, because the Feds are obsessed with "the cloak". I think FvF should NOT have xp or medals, let it truly be what they are calling it, which is a "simulation". With no xp or medals, Feds will still be motivated to fight Klingons, otherwise, they won't be.

PvP right now is hurting awfully bad, and if Cryptic doesn't get smart and fix the queues, add more maps and more pvp types (Open PvP to take and hold systems where the entire sector is fought over consensually) then the Klingons will be killed off, and I won't have a reason to play. There is no where near enough pve content for the Feds to be really enjoyable after 1-2 characters, and I enjoy my Klingons because I genuinely like the species from the various series...so, Klingons go to hell, and I'll go to a new game.

EDIT: March 17 - Now it's official, tomorrow's patch kills the Klingon faction.

people call for open pvp, and to some extent i would like it too, however if the entire klingon fleet - all tiers turned up, and 1/3 the feds turn up we will get steamrolled out the zone if it has capture points. Sure we can harrass the stragglers and get a nice kill ratio but we just wont have the strengh to take a defended objective. if by some chance we ninja it the fed fleet will just turn up moments later and reclaim it. So if any significant value is place on the objectives - increased rare drop chance for example it will not help our cause much.
