And contacts are only marginally better. I can't wait until I can afford LASIK surgery.

glasses are plenty fun, just color match the frames to coordinate with what you plan to wear. Now rain + glasses =/= fun

I like my glasses, refuse to wear contacs and well, I doubt I'll ever go for the lasik. I saw it done on one of the Discovery networks and it freaked me out enough to dismiss it. :p

What is wrong with having your eyelids taped to the back of your head so they can lean a high powered laser against your eyeballs and fire it repeatedly directly into your brain. That and the newness of the whole process and lack of long term data sounds like a blast to me

I'll stick with glasses thank you very much. I do want to get transition-type lenses for driving with the top down, but that'll wait.

[ignoring hyperbole above] Well, the laser doesn't go past the cornea (the very front of the eye), and couldn't go into your brain. [/ignoring hyperbole above]

The 10 year data has been released (Lasik got FDA approval in early '96), and so far things seem to be staying stable. The procedure was approved in the early 90's in Canada, so they're past the 15-year mark. From what I can see in my practice as an eye doctor, eyes and vision are staying pretty stable, aside from the inevitable 'my arms are too short' thing that happens to all of us in our 40's, with or without surgery.

I just look awesome with glasses. You must've picked the wrong frame. In the age of one-use contacts and laser eye surgery wearing glasses is a true fashion statement.

I'm only near-sighted so I don't need to wear my glasses 24/7 ^^ and when I should wear 'em I don't still :p (not counting driving lol). Contacts suck in my opinion....and having a low-yeild phaser shot at me isn't my def. of fun hehe

God do I hate rain+glasses /cry There is always that ONE SPOT from the rain that doesn't come off
