Seriously, seems like RAPID FIRE has become completely useless IMHO...it drains way too much power too fast, and does not shell out nearly enough damage as it used to. As a matter of fact, you do more damage with less energy usage (due to the recharge rate) by attacking without rapid fire. So has RAPID FIRE become completely useless??? If so, that is 1800 skill points I want to respec.

when I use rapid fire my DPS goes up, i think so anyways

Well, I like to loop around a mark and hit'em from the rear, with rapid fire III and High Yield II, for a quick intense burst of deadly dps! I run DH Disruptor Cannons and Quantum Torps on the front and Tachyon Turrets on the rear. Usually my combination of turrets and cannons neutralize a targets shields very fast, enough so that my quantum torps slide in for a devestaing impact. I used to blow up things pretty fast...

But now with the new patch - rapid fire is not effective at all - the first few shots massively drain my energy, to the point that the cannon/turret/rapid fire combo, does hardly no damage at all. I've found that if I do not use rapid fire, there's enough of a delay between shots for my energy levels to recharge slightly - thereby doing lots of damage - but it just takes longer than before, and is not as effective.

However, one thing I have noticed is that the critical severity bonus's are MUCH IMPROVED!

I run with all green gear, and blue gear quantum torps - and before the patch, I wasn't getting much for my bucks with the critical hits, but now my torps do masive damage. I do like that, but hate the fact that rapid fire is rendered useless, if you're packin multiple DHC's and Turrets.

I have equiped a rare mk x eps conduit and I have no issiues... I get the drain but by the time I fire my next shot my power is back at full so maybe try giving that a run? Works for me... yeah you lose one eng device slot but IMO its worth it

See I've heard that the MK X gear is good, but the problem is, I'm only Commander - and I think that gear is for Admirals and such...so I can't use it. Unless I'm wrong...

I've been mixing it up a bit and am still kicking butt - but it's just a pain to have to do all that, and then still - not to be able to kill things as fast and as efficient as I was able to before - that's all.

I think once I make captain and pick up an extra fwd weapon slot, things will be better - then I might start runnin wtih four torp launchers 2 on front and 2 on back with heavy cannons or tetryon dual beam arrays.

You know, the biggest problem here, is that us as Escorts - only have one engineering console slot. If they're going to do all this, then out of fairness, they should respec the escort class, and give us two engineering slots.

Okay, lets see here...

Number one, Rapid Fire 1 and 2 were doing the same damage as Rapid Fire 3. This has been addressed (as it should be).

Number two, it seems that this power was intended for bursts of high damage, not for sustained high damage. Causing your weapons to fire more often, draining your power faster, should make this kind of obvious.

Since dual cannons (all cannons, actually) all fire at once (instead of chain fire) this may be a large contributing factor to you having your energy drain faster. Also, this once again speaks to a burst damage build, rather than a sustained damage build.

I suggest you try a higher rank of Rapid Fire. If you are, instead, using Rapid Fire and expecting high sustained damage, I suggest you adjust your tactics to suit a burst fire concept.

I also highly recommend you and others use Tribble server as a test bed for builds, so you can narrow down what you want to do on live.
